Healthcare Patient Management Platform
Centralized patient records, appointments, and reporting for a multi-clinic healthcare network.
The Challenge
The Problem That Existed
MediCare Network operated several clinics with patient records, appointments, and reporting spread across separate systems and paper files. Staff re-keyed information between tools, no single view of a patient existed across locations, and assembling utilization reports took days of manual work.
Before / After
From Friction to Flow
How disconnected manual work becomes an integrated system.
Before
- Manual processes
- Disconnected systems
- Data in silos
After
- A single patient record
- Appointment management
- Reporting
- Access control
Requirements
What Needed to Be Built
The outcomes the project had to deliver.
A single patient record
One structured record per patient spanning all clinics, with visit history and contact details in a single view.
Appointment management
Scheduling across clinics with reminders and waitlist handling.
Reporting
Utilization and appointment reports the network could produce on demand, without IT involvement.
Access control
Staff roles that see only the data their role requires.
The Solution
How the Software Solved It
We built a web platform that gives every clinic one shared patient record, a scheduling module that spans all locations, and a reporting layer that turns operational data into on-demand reports. Staff work in a single system instead of coordinating between files and spreadsheets, and the network gets a consolidated view it did not have before.
Project Type
Web Platform
Architecture
Technical Approach
A modular web application with a Laravel API backend and a Vue-based interface, organized around three domains: patients, appointments, and reporting. A shared database gives every clinic one source of truth, with role-based access enforced at the API layer.
Laravel API
RESTful backend with role-scoped access and structured patient, appointment, and report endpoints.
Vue interface
Component-based front end organized around the staff workflows: scheduling, records, and reports.
Single database
One data store across clinics so records are not duplicated per location.
Redis caching
Cached reference data to keep common screens responsive.
Features
The Most Important Features
The capabilities that did the heavy lifting.
Unified patient records
History, contacts, and visits in one structured view across all clinics.
Cross-clinic scheduling
Appointments booked and viewed across locations with reminders.
On-demand reporting
Utilization and appointment reports generated without IT tickets.
Role-based access
Clinicians, admin, and management each see the data their role needs.
Outcome
What Changed
Verified outcomes only. Where numbers are unavailable, we describe the qualitative result.
One source of truth
Patient records consolidated across clinics into a single structured system.
Faster reporting
Reports the network previously assembled by hand are now generated from the system on demand.
Clearer access control
Staff roles now have defined, enforced access instead of shared spreadsheets and files.
Technology
Tech Stack
The technologies the team used to build and run the platform.
Development
Technology & Implementation
The platform was delivered in phases: patient records first, then scheduling, then reporting. Weekly working demos kept the clinical team in the loop, and the interface was shaped around how staff actually book appointments and update records.
Laravel
API, auth, role-based access, and report generation.
Vue.js
Interactive staff interface for records and scheduling.
MySQL
Relational data store for patients, appointments, and clinics.
Redis
Caching for responsive common screens.
